President’s Corner  

 

Happy New Year Turner Members!


            I would like to thank all of the outgoing Board of Directors for their years of service and would like to welcome the new Board members. Two hundred and fourteen members voted and elected the following; President Mike Seppelfrick, Financial Secretary Rick Darfler, and Board of Directors Tom Bozonelos, Mark Thompson, Steve Nelson, and Brian Darfler, Social Chairperson Theresa Sherman, Entertainment Chairperson Marietta  Sherman, Sgt.of Arms Gary White and with one position open for Recording Secretary.

            Due to a shipment of defective door access cards (green and white) the manufacturer has shipped us 5000 brand new cards (purple and white).  These are the cards we will be using in the future. All of the green cards will be deactivated, and only the purple cards will be able to access the doors at Aurora Turners. We will be mailing out your new key cards with your new membership card. DO NOT THROW YOUR GREEN KEY CARD AWAY!!! THE CARD COMPANY, GENERAL ELECTRIC, NEEDS ALL OF THE GREEN CARDS RETURNED. If possible, please bring them back to the club and drop them off in the box by the front door, or mail them to Aurora Turners 1335 Mitchell Rd. Aurora, IL, 60505. If we do not receive a substantial amount of cards, we will be charged a fee per card for uncollected cards. Do not return your green card until you have received your purple one.

            As posted in the main clubroom on 12/22/2008, we will be having three Special Meetings to discuss the purchase of a new bar and floor in the main clubroom. The Board has received three bids and will be recommending one to the General Membership at the January 8th meeting. The cost will be approximately $100,000.00. The reason for this is the current bar is 27 years old and is in need of repair. Liquor lines, pop lines, drain issues, as well as a widening of the bar 18 inches are just some of the reasons to look at the possibility for making the purchase.

            The first and second meetings are for discussion and to recommend any changes.  They will be held Thursday, January 8th after the 7:00PM General Meeting and Tuesday, January 20 at 7:00PM.  We will vote at the third and final meeting. The bar will be either approved or disapproved.  The voting will be held on Thursday, February 5th after the 7:00 General Meeting.
